faq
you ask
we answer
1. Can all finishes be used on all cover materials?
No. Each finish interacts differently with material texture, thickness, and surface coating. Some materials require specific finishes to achieve clean, durable results.
2. Why are certain materials not compatible with some finishes?
Highly textured, soft, or coated materials may prevent foil from adhering evenly or reduce the clarity of an indented imprint. Compatibility ensures the imprint looks refined and lasts over time.
3. What if I like the look of a finish but my material isn’t compatible?
We recommend choosing an alternative finish that achieves a similar visual effect while working better with your selected material. Material notes throughout the page highlight these options.
4. Will the imprint look exactly the same on every material?
Not always. The same finish can appear slightly different depending on material colour, texture, and structure. This is especially true for blind debossing and laser engraving.
5. Is Foil Kiss raised or indented?
Neither. Foil Kiss is flat and smooth, with the foil applied digitally to the surface rather than pressed into the material.
6. Which finish is best for logos or detailed artwork?
Flat + Smooth finishes, such as Foil Kiss, are best for designs that require sharp edges and fine detail. Custom Design is recommended for complex artwork.
7.Can I combine different finishes on one album?
In most cases, a single finish is used for consistency. If you’re considering multiple finishes, we recommend reviewing material compatibility or reaching out for guidance.
8.How do I choose between Handset, Calligraphy, and Custom Design?
Handset is best for simple text such as names and dates. Calligraphy suits script-style names with movement and character. Custom Design allows for logos and detailed artwork.
9. What if I’m unsure which option to choose?
You can explore material compatibility and imprint options in more detail, or reach out to our team for guidance before placing your order.
